Once known solely for its refined kitchens, Belgian house Obumex has evolved into a curator of complete, high-end interiors. As part of this transformation, the brand introduced Collected by Obumex, a series of limited furniture collections, each entrusted to a different design studio and united by an unwavering dedication to elegance, craft, and timeless form. For this capsule, we were invited to contribute a personal narrative: the Capri Collection, an ode to Europe’s cultural heritage and its centuries-old traditions of artisanal excellence.

Rooted in memory, the collection finds its emotional core in a moment of quiet intimacy. During my honeymoon in Italy, a visit to Casa Malaparte on the island of Capri became the spark. The villa, perched like a sculptural enigma above the Mediterranean, offered both muse and metaphor. Its architectural purity, the dialogue between severity and sensuality, and its arresting silhouette informed the forms that shape this collection. Through proportion, materiality, and gesture, Capri Collection becomes an echo of place, of history, and of an enduring connection to the natural world.

Crafted in close collaboration with master artisans across Europe, each piece is an expression of innovation woven through tradition. A mosaic artist, celebrated for her work restoring historic cathedrals, applies stained-glass techniques for the very first time to a tabletop, reinterpreting sacred craft into a new domestic ritual. A sculptural floor lamp in plaster with linen shades recalls the island’s iconic pines and is shaped by hand in a small Brussels atelier, where a family legacy of making is kept alive. The sofa, inspired by the sea’s lyrical motion, is wrapped in velvet and jacquard from French heritage house Nobilis and rests on a base of oak burl. Upholstered to order by Belgian Royal Warrant holders, it offers both comfort and grandeur.

More than a furniture line, Capri Collection is a quiet reflection on beauty, memory, and the value of craftsmanship passed down through generations. Recently unveiled, the collection is now on view in Obumex showrooms in Belgium, Zurich, Paris, and New York, where it continues to invite moments of contemplation and connection. Behind each piece stands a community of over 100 makers and minds, as Obumex remains devoted to nurturing artisanal excellence through thoughtful, long-term collaboration.
